Medical Weight Loss & Wellness

Weight Loss, Metabolic Health, and What Comes With It

A GLP-1 prescription on its own is not a weight loss program. Ours includes your labs, your meal planning, your check-ins, and a provider who adjusts the plan when your body responds differently than expected. Medication is one part of it, not the whole thing.

The Medication Is the Easy Part.

There are plenty of places that will mail you a GLP-1 after a questionnaire. That is not what this is. Every patient here starts with a real evaluation and labs, and stays in an ongoing clinical relationship where the plan gets adjusted based on what your body actually does.

01
A real intake

Full medical history, current medications, prior weight loss attempts, and what has and has not worked for you. Eligibility is a clinical decision made at that visit, and not everyone is a candidate.

02
Labs, recommended and sometimes required

A metabolic panel covering thyroid, insulin, A1c, lipids, liver and kidney function, and inflammatory markers. Recommended before you start, and we will use results you already have from the last 90 days. At 90 days, if you have not lost weight, they become required.

03
Meal planning support

GLP-1 medication reduces appetite. It does not tell you what to eat, and eating too little protein while on it costs you muscle. We help you build a plan you can actually follow.

04
Weight check-ins

Regular check-ins so we can see the trend, not just a number at month six. This is also where side effects get caught early, which is when people quit.

05
Dose adjusted to you

Titration is managed by your provider based on response and tolerance, not by a fixed schedule. Some people do well staying lower for longer. Some need to move faster.

06
Follow-up that continues

Refills, side effect management, and plan adjustments are part of the program. You are not handed a prescription and left alone with it.

If you are not losing weight, we look for why.

At 90 days, if you have not responded the way we would expect, we require repeat labs. Non-response is information. It usually points to thyroid, insulin resistance, a medication that is working against you, or a dose that needs restructuring. What we will not do is keep refilling something that is not working and call it a program.

Brand-Name First. Compounded When There Is a Reason.

Semaglutide and tirzepatide are the two GLP-1 medications we prescribe. Which one, at what dose, and in which form is a clinical decision made after your evaluation and labs.

Where Most Patients Start
FDA-approved brand

Wegovy through Novo Nordisk's direct program and Zepbound through Lilly Direct. These are the FDA-approved products, and for most patients they are the right starting point.

You pay the manufacturer directly for the medication. Our fee covers the clinical care around it: your evaluation, labs, prior authorization work where it applies, titration, and follow-up.

When It Is Clinically Indicated
Compounded

A compounded preparation is prescribed when there is a specific clinical reason for it. The most common are a dose or dosing schedule the commercial product cannot deliver, or a formulation that needs something added, such as B vitamins.

It is a clinical decision made for you at your visit, documented in your chart, and filled by a licensed 503A pharmacy against your individual prescription.

How We Think About Weight and Metabolism.

01
Weight is a metabolic issue, not a willpower issue

Hormones, insulin resistance, thyroid function, and stress physiology all drive weight. We treat the full picture, not just the medication. This is also why a hormone practice is a reasonable place to be treated for weight.

02
Evaluation first, and labs where they change the answer

We do not prescribe GLP-1s or regenerative protocols without a clinical evaluation. Labs are strongly recommended before you start, and recent results from another provider are fine. If you are not losing weight at 90 days, labs stop being optional, because that is the point where guessing gets expensive.

03
Muscle matters as much as the scale

Rapid weight loss on a GLP-1 costs lean mass if protein intake and resistance training are not addressed. That is part of the plan here rather than an afterthought, because losing muscle in your forties is expensive to get back.

04
Ongoing care, not a one-time prescription

Titration, side effect management, refills, check-ins, and plan adjustments are part of the program. Patients who stop a GLP-1 usually stop in the first six weeks, when nausea and constipation peak. That is exactly when having someone to call matters.

Clinical Depth Behind Every Plan.

Medical weight loss and metabolic wellness is a core clinical focus at Navara Health. Jessica Boggs, APRN's cardiovascular and acute care subspecialty training adds depth when hormones, thyroid, or more complex metabolic factors are involved in a patient's weight picture.

You are not seen by whoever is available. You are seen by the same provider each time, who knows this area clinically and keeps current with the evolving science around GLP-1 therapy and metabolic medicine.

What Patients Ask Most

Do you prescribe brand-name or compounded GLP-1?
Both, and which one is a clinical decision. FDA-approved brand-name Wegovy through Novo Nordisk's direct program and Zepbound through Lilly Direct are where most patients start. A compounded preparation is prescribed when there is a specific clinical reason, most commonly a dose or dosing schedule the commercial product cannot deliver, or a formulation that needs something added such as B vitamins. Compounded preparations are filled by a licensed 503A pharmacy against your individual prescription and are not FDA-approved in the same manner as commercially manufactured drugs.
What is actually included besides the medication?
Your intake and evaluation, your labs, meal planning support, weight check-ins, provider-managed dose titration, side effect management, refills, and ongoing follow-up. If you are not responding by 90 days we require repeat labs to find out why. The medication is one component of the program, not the program itself.
Do I need labs before starting?
Not to start, but they are strongly recommended. The weight loss and metabolic panel looks at thyroid, insulin, A1c, lipids, liver and kidney function, and inflammatory markers, and if you have results from the last 90 days we will work from those instead. Labs do become required at 90 days if you have not lost weight, because at that point we need to know why.
What happens if I am not losing weight?
At 90 days we require repeat labs. Non-response is useful information and usually points to something specific: thyroid function, insulin resistance, a medication working against you, or a dose that needs restructuring. We will not keep refilling something that is not working. Sometimes the honest answer is that a different approach is a better fit.
Is everyone a candidate?
No. Eligibility is determined at your evaluation against medical criteria including your history, current medications, and personal and family risk factors. GLP-1 therapy is not appropriate for everyone and treatment approval is never guaranteed in advance. If you are not a candidate we will tell you why and what the alternatives are.
Can this be done by virtual visit?
Yes. Consultations, follow-ups, and ongoing management can be handled by virtual visit in 11 states: Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Iowa, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Vermont, Virginia, and Washington. Labs are ordered through Quest and drawn at a location near you. Virtual is how the visits happen, not a substitute for the evaluation and monitoring.
