Most women's hormone protocols can be started and managed entirely by virtual care. Testosterone is the exception. The most common thing women tell us after starting hormone therapy is that they wish they had done it sooner. Fatigue, brain fog, weight gain, and mood changes are not just inevitable parts of aging. In many cases they are direct consequences of hormonal changes that respond well to treatment.

The second most common thing they tell us: their previous provider looked at one number, said it was normal, and sent them home. We look at the whole picture. A result can fall within a reference range and still be suboptimal for you specifically. That nuance matters.

Hormone therapy is prescribed at provider discretion following a full clinical evaluation. Treatment eligibility, protocol design, and medication selection are individualized and not guaranteed. Compounded preparations are prepared by licensed 503A compounding pharmacies and are not FDA-approved in the same manner as commercially manufactured drugs. Testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance; Texas law requires an in-person evaluation before initiation and at least one in-person visit annually to continue, and it is available only to Texas patients. Testosterone prescribed for women is off-label, as no FDA-approved testosterone product is formulated for women. There is no FDA-approved estriol product in the United States; estriol has a USP monograph, which is the basis on which a licensed pharmacy may compound it against a patient-specific prescription. BHRT Options

Bioidentical Hormones in Multiple Delivery Forms.

BHRT uses hormones that are chemically identical to those your body produces. Delivery method depends on your specific hormones, goals, and preference. Your provider will recommend the best approach at your discovery intake.

Topical Creams and Gels

Applied to skin for steady absorption. Common for estradiol and testosterone. Flexible dosing and easy to adjust.

Oral Capsules and Troches

Compounded capsules or troches for progesterone and some other hormones. Convenient and predictable.

Subcutaneous Injections

Testosterone injections for women who need more consistent levels. Self-administered at home with provider guidance. Testosterone is a controlled substance, so an in-person visit in Texas is required to start and annually to continue, and it is prescribed off-label for women.

Vaginal Preparations

Local estrogen and DHEA for vaginal dryness, atrophy, and urinary symptoms. Minimal systemic absorption.

Am I a candidate for hormone therapy? ▾
Most women experiencing hormonal symptoms are candidates for evaluation. The discovery intake is where your provider reviews your health history, current symptoms, and labs. Whether BHRT is appropriate is determined at that visit based on your clinical picture. We do not initiate hormone therapy without that evaluation, and treatment is never guaranteed in advance.
What is the difference between Compound Complete and the Retail Rx Plan? ▾
Compound Complete includes your compounded medication, up to three compounded hormones delivered to you. The Retail Rx Plan provides the same clinical care but sends prescriptions to your own pharmacy, so medication is not included. The Retail Rx Plan cannot serve women who need testosterone, who have a peanut allergy requiring compounded progesterone, or who need Biest or estriol, because those protocols are not available as commercially manufactured products.
What is the difference between synthetic HRT and BHRT? ▾
Bioidentical hormones are chemically identical to the hormones your body produces. Synthetic hormones used in traditional HRT have a different molecular structure. Compounded bioidentical preparations are prepared by licensed 503A pharmacies and are not FDA-approved in the same manner as commercially manufactured drugs. FDA-approved bioidentical products also exist, and which is right for you is a clinical decision made at your discovery intake.
How long before I feel a difference? ▾
Most patients notice initial changes within four to eight weeks, though full optimization can take three to six months as your protocol is adjusted. Some symptoms like sleep and energy often improve sooner. Individual results vary. Your quarterly follow-ups are scheduled specifically to track your progress and fine-tune your protocol based on how you are responding.
Is virtual care available for women's hormone therapy? ▾

Labs can be ordered through Quest Diagnostics and drawn at a location near you. Medication is delivered to you. Testosterone is the exception and requires an in-person visit in Texas.
Can I get testosterone as part of my protocol? ▾
Yes, when it is clinically indicated. Two things are important to know. Testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance, so Texas law requires an in-person evaluation before it can be prescribed and at least one in-person visit annually to continue, and it is available only to Texas patients. It is also prescribed off-label for women, because there is no FDA-approved testosterone product formulated for women. Your provider will discuss dosing, monitoring, and the possible androgenic effects before anything is prescribed.
What if I already have labs from another provider? ▾
Perimenopause Start at $199 already assumes you bring recent labs. Your provider will review your existing labs at your appointment. Depending on what was tested and how recent they are, additional labs may still be recommended.
Is hormone therapy safe for women with a family history of cancer? ▾
This is an important question that requires a thorough individual evaluation. Risks vary significantly depending on the type of hormone, the route of administration, your personal and family history, and other clinical factors. At Navara Health, risks and benefits are reviewed in detail at your discovery intake. We do not prescribe hormones without that conversation.
What hormones do you test? ▾
The evaluation includes estradiol, progesterone, total and free testosterone, DHEA-S, FSH, LH, a full thyroid panel with TSH, free T3 and free T4, cortisol, and relevant metabolic markers. Treatment is based on the full picture, not a single value.

Laboratory Work

Two panels a year included. Everything else, your choice.

Your membership includes your baseline panel when you start and a repeat at six months, both ordered and paid for by us. Sometimes your results or symptoms call for a check before the next scheduled panel. When that happens you have three ways to handle it.

Use your insurance

We send the order to Quest or LabCorp and they bill your plan directly.

We cannot guarantee coverage. Your plan, your deductible, and how your insurer classifies the test decide what you owe. Insurers frequently deny hormone testing as not medically necessary. Call the number on your card or contact Quest before your draw to confirm.

Bring labs from your PCP

If your primary care provider orders similar testing and it is covered under your plan, bring us the results.

As long as they are current, include the markers we need, and come from an accredited laboratory, we will use them. This is often the least expensive route, and we will tell you exactly what to ask your PCP to order.

Pay cash

We build a bundle of only the markers your situation calls for rather than a full panel.

You get the price before the order is placed, so there are no surprises. A single follow-up marker is often under $30.

Safety monitoring is not optional. Testosterone therapy requires hematocrit surveillance. Certain medications require kidney or liver checks. Where a test is required for safe prescribing, we will tell you it is required rather than optional, and treatment continues once it is completed.
