How It Works

Your Skin's Own Repair Response.

Microneedling uses a device with fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. Your skin responds by producing new collagen and elastin, the structural proteins responsible for firmness and texture. No heat, no lasers, no chemicals.

Navara uses the SkinPen Precision Elite. SkinPen Precision is classified under FDA De Novo DEN160029 for improving the appearance of facial acne scars in adults aged 22 and older across all Fitzpatrick skin types, and is cleared under 510(k) K202243 for improving the appearance of wrinkles on the neck in Fitzpatrick skin types II to IV. Most pens sold for microneedling carry no clearance for either indication.

The depth and treatment pattern are calibrated by a licensed provider for your specific concerns. That is meaningfully different from an at-home roller or a spa-level device, both in what it can treat and in how it is kept safe.

01 · Consultation

We review your skin concerns, health history, and goals. A realistic series recommendation and any add-ons are discussed before anything is booked.

02 · Numbing

Topical numbing cream is applied 20 to 30 minutes before the session, so the treatment itself is comfortable.

03 · Treatment

The session runs 30 to 45 minutes. PRP or PRF is applied immediately after if it is part of your plan.

04 · Celluma LED

Every session finishes with professional Celluma LED as part of the recovery protocol. It is included rather than charged separately.

Who performs your treatment. Every in-clinic aesthetic treatment at Navara is performed by Jessica Boggs, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, ENP-C and Rocio Gonzalez, RN. The same two people, every visit. Evaluation, diagnosis and prescriptions are by Jessica Boggs, APRN. Aesthetic services are provided to adults 18 and older.

About the add-ons

Platelet-rich plasma and platelet-rich fibrin are not FDA-approved for aesthetic indications. They are prepared from your own blood at the time of treatment and used off-label, which is legal and common when supported by clinical judgment and informed consent.

The VAMP add-on is a polynucleotide serum applied topically over the treatment channels rather than injected, and it is a cosmetic application rather than an FDA-approved treatment for any condition.

Celluma is an FDA-cleared LED device used as part of the recovery protocol. FDA clearance is a different and lower standard than FDA approval, and it is not a promise of a result.

The evidence base for the add-ons is smaller than for FDA-approved treatments, response varies between individuals, and no specific result can be promised. Microneedling on its own remains a well-established treatment and is often the right place to start.

Treatment eligibility is determined by your provider following a consultation and good faith exam. Risks, benefits, and realistic expectations are reviewed with you first. Microneedling is not appropriate during an active skin infection, for keloid-prone skin, during pregnancy, or while taking isotretinoin.

How many sessions will I need? ▾
A series of three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart is the usual course, then maintenance. Acne scarring often takes more. Your provider will give you an honest number at your consultation rather than selling a package that assumes more than you need. The series of three is $1,200, which saves $150 against booking individually.

Should I add PRP or PRF? ▾
Not always. Microneedling on its own is a well-established treatment and for many concerns it is the right place to start. PRP and PRF add growth factors from your own blood and may support the collagen response, but they are used off-label and are not FDA-approved for aesthetic use. If your provider thinks the plain treatment will get you where you want to go, that is what we will recommend.
What is the difference between PRP and PRF? ▾
Both come from your own blood. PRP uses an anticoagulant and stays liquid, releasing growth factors relatively quickly. PRF is spun without any additive so it clots naturally into a fibrin matrix, releasing growth factors gradually over several days. PRF costs more and is often preferred where sustained stimulation matters.
What is VAMP? ▾
VAMP is a polynucleotide serum applied topically over the channels created during your microneedling session. It is applied to the skin, not injected. Polynucleotides are used for skin repair and hydration and the treatment is $750 with your microneedling. Like the other add-ons here it is a cosmetic application rather than an FDA-approved treatment for any condition, and individual response varies. Your provider will tell you whether it suits what you are treating.
How much downtime is there? ▾
Redness and mild sensitivity for 24 to 72 hours, similar to a sunburn. Normal activity usually resumes the next day. Plan around anything important: do not book a session two days before an event. Avoid sun exposure and use sunscreen while you heal.
When will I see results? ▾
Not immediately. Collagen remodelling is gradual, so texture and tone changes are usually noticed at four to six weeks, with fuller results over three to six months and across a series. If someone promises you a visible result the next day, they are describing swelling rather than collagen.
Do I need a good faith exam? ▾
Yes, before your first aesthetic treatment. It is a $30 short evaluation required under Texas law, renewed once a year, and it covers aesthetics, IV therapy, and injections rather than being charged each visit. Navara Health is appointment only, so it needs its own scheduled slot. Call ahead and we can usually fit it and your treatment into one visit.
