Our Approach
Normal Labs. Still Not Right.
A routine annual panel checks fifteen to twenty things. It was built to catch anemia, diabetes, and kidney or liver disease, and it does that well. It was never built to explain why a 46-year-old woman cannot get through the afternoon, or why a man on testosterone for two years still feels flat.
Ferritin is usually missing. So are free T3, thyroid antibodies, fasting insulin, and any sex hormone measured the right way. So we test what was skipped, and we read every number against your symptoms, your age, and your goals instead of a population average. Then we treat what we find. That can mean a prescription, a change to one you already take, or a referral when the answer belongs with someone else.

What It Means Here
Functional Medicine, With a Prescriber.
Iron with ferritin. Free T3 and free T4. TPO and thyroglobulin antibodies, which can turn positive years before TSH moves. Fasting insulin, which rises years before blood sugar does. ApoB and Lp(a) for heart risk a cholesterol panel cannot show.
A ferritin of 15 gets reported as normal while a woman is losing her hair. We read your results against optimal targets and against your symptoms, and we explain every number in plain language.
Longer is not better. Reverse T3 is a good example: it rarely changes management, so it is off our standard thyroid panel. Every marker we order has to earn its place in a decision.
Bioidentical hormones, thyroid medication, testosterone, GLP-1 medication, low-dose naltrexone, and prescription hair loss treatment. FDA-approved products when they fit, and compounded preparations from licensed 503A pharmacies when there is a clinical reason.
Doses get adjusted. Labs get repeated at six months. If something is not working, we find out why instead of leaving you on the same plan for two years.

Women's Hormone Therapy

What is functional medicine at Navara Health?
It means we look for the reason behind your symptoms before we treat them. We test what a standard annual panel leaves off, read your results against how you actually feel, and build a plan around what we find. Navara is led by Jessica Boggs, a board-certified nurse practitioner who can order labs and prescribe, so prescription treatment is on the table when you need it.
My labs came back normal. Can you still help?
Yes. A normal result means one thing: you landed inside a range built from a large population. It does not mean the cause of your symptoms was ruled out, because ferritin, free T3, thyroid antibodies, fasting insulin and sex hormones are usually not on a routine panel at all. Normal labs never disqualify you from care here. They tell us what has been ruled out and what still needs a look.
How much does functional medicine cost at Navara Health?
Most new patients begin with the Start Visit: $199 if you bring labs from the last 90 days, or $349 with your labs ordered for you. Both include a 60 to 75 minute results review. If you want answers before committing to treatment, flat-rate lab evaluations start at $149 for the Complete Thyroid Evaluation and run to $449 for the Advanced Health Evaluation, with testing and a provider review included. Financing is available through Cherry, and HSA and FSA cards are accepted for eligible services.
Does Navara take insurance?
Visits are self-pay with published prices. Lab work can be billed to your insurance at Quest if you prefer, though hormone and wellness testing is often denied as not medically necessary, so we explain that before you choose. Superbills are available on request for out-of-network reimbursement.
Is functional medicine available by virtual care?
Yes. Every consultation and results review at Navara happens by virtual care, for patients in Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Iowa, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Vermont and Washington. Labs are drawn at Quest. The Dallas clinic is used for procedures and for the in-person visit Texas requires before starting testosterone.
What if my symptoms are anxiety or depression?
Hormones, thyroid and iron can all drive mood symptoms, and we test for them. Navara does not prescribe or manage psychiatric medication. When you need that care, we refer you to a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner who sees patients by telehealth and accepts insurance, and we work alongside that provider.
